Cambridge series at the Hay Festival 2012
This year was the fourth year of the Cambridge series at the Hay Festival and Hay’s 25th anniversary. This year’s series of 14 events included not only talks, but also a series of panel discussions on a wide range of contemporary issues, from Europe and democracy to tragedy in the 21st century. Speakers included Professor David Spiegelhalter on risk; Dr Carolin Crawford on astronomy, Professor Stefan Collini on the use of universities and Dame Patricia Hodgson on media regulation. The talks were well attended and over 4,500 people attended the series. Peter Florence, the Hay director, said: “The talks were brilliantly relevant – astonishingly so.”
