Help us tackle COVID-19 through research collaborations, by donating equipment or funding research
The University of Cambridge is co-ordinating a range of activities to address COVID-19. We have been enormously heartened by your offers of help and interest in working with us on a wide range of worthwhile projects.
We are establishing research collaborations with other research institutions, industrial and charity partners in key disciplines and activities such as:
Clinical trials, critical care, diagnostics, immunology, infectious diseases, public health, respiratory medicine, vaccines, virology, business risk, data science and modelling, engineering and manufacturing.
If your organisation works in one of these areas and is interested in collaborating with us, contact us here and we'll put you in touch with the right people.
For Cambridge researchers: If you are working on a COVID-19 related project, make sure you are connected to all the available institutional support and to other initiatives in your field through the University's COVID-19 Academic Initiatives Hub.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
We are co-ordinating the donations of PPE supplies for frontline health staff. If you have equipment you could donate, please contact us here.
For more information about the types of PPE being requested and delivery details, read these FAQs.
Read about the behind-the-scenes efforts at Cambridge to get equipment to NHS medics here.
You can also support the provision of PPE in Cambridge and the East of England by donating to Cambridge China COVID-19 Collaboration PPE Appeal.

How individuals can help
If you have research and/or lab expertise:
Add your details to a Cambridge skills database
This Cambridge-wide information gathering exercise is being carried out to identify staff (from across the University as well as local institutes, businesses and charities) with skills that might be of use in COVID-19 research and/or diagnostic testing.

Join the national COVID-19 testing effort
The UK Government is urgently looking to recruit experienced laboratory staff in Milton Keynes, Cheshire, and Glasgow. It is particularly interested in individuals who are comfortable working in a qPCR environment, and those who can operate liquid handling machines, although more generalist laboratory support is also required.
You will need to obtain permission from your current employer.
Find out more here.
Provide guidance and advice to parliament
Parliament is looking for contributions from experts in a wide range of topics. Sign up to the COVID-19 Outbreak Expert Database here.
Take part in research studies or clinical trials
Most of the research studies taking place in Cambridge hospitals are recruiting patients who have been admitted with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. But there a number of studies looking for healthy volunteers or for people who have experienced mild symptoms at home. If you would like to take part, find out more here.
We are currently directing all offers of volunteering to the NHS and other organisations providing community support. University staff should read the guidance about volunteering here which can also be found on the University's coronavirus pages.
