The University of Cambridge has awarded honorary degrees to eight distinguished individuals in recognition of outstanding achievement in law, science, technical innovation and manufacturing, medicine, music, history and the visual arts.
The University of Cambridge on Wednesday held a special Congregation of its Regent House, for its Chancellor, Lord Sainsbury of Turville, to confer the honorary degree of Doctor of Law on His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Flags were flown and the bells of Great St Mary’s, the University Church, rang out as the Chancellor’s procession approached the Senate-House today for the annual conferment of Honorary Doctorates, the highest accolade the University can bestow, on recipients recognised for their outstanding contributions.
