We regularly review the condition of our buildings as part of the general management and maintenance of the University estate, and started a specific survey in summer 2023 to check if Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) had been used at any University sites. All of the University’s operational buildings were assessed and a total of 196 buildings, which were built during the time period when RAAC may have been used, have been surveyed. RAAC has been confirmed at one University building outside central Cambridge where safety and remedial work has now been completed to control the risk.
