The University of Cambridge recognises that climate change is a real and present danger, which is why we encouraged an exhaustive University-wide debate on divestment and sustainability last year.

That debate culminated in the University Council’s response to a 2018 report from the Divestment Working Group (DWG), which was commissioned by Council to hear all sides of the debate, assess this issue and deliver a report.

The University is primarily focused now on implementing the numerous and wide-ranging commitments to its policy of considered divestment, which was recommended by the DWG report and accepted by Council after a full debate.

DWG Chair Dame Athene Donald and member Professor Simon Redfern give us an update on their DWG work and address some of the areas of continuing debate.
