The Cambridge Computer Laboratory is running a competition of Computer Science this summer.

Anyone can enter and let fantasy take its course creating a two minute video for YouTube that educates the world about some aspect of Computer Science.

The general public have very little understanding of what Computer Science is, or how important it has become.

Many people mistakenly think studying Computer Science just gets you a mundane IT job. Graduates, however, are highly in demand on the labour market, starting exciting careers or using their skills as entrepreneurs.

Computer Scientists combine mathematical rigour with lateral thinking, creative design, psychology and social sciences to make tomorrow's technology.

Computer Science benefits society and impacts on people’s everyday lives. It gives new ideas, new devices, and new ways of working.

The Computer Laboratory is an academic department within the University of Cambridge which encompasses Computer Science, along with many aspects of Engineering, Technology and Mathematics.

The competition challenges participants to explain what Computer Science is, to show where it is applied and how it has changed the world. The possibilities of showcasing are limited only by imagination. A range of prizes will be awarded.

Closing date for the competition is on Friday, 15 August 2008.
