Cambridge University Entrepreneurs (CUE) launched their 2005/06 CUE Business Creation Competition (CUEBiC) and 3P (People, Planet and Productivity) Business Creation Competition on 13th October.

The Grand Launch brought students and staff of the University, CUE alumni and members of the Cambridge entrepreneurial community together for a night of inspirational presentations and networking.

CUE has a strong record for helping innovative ideas become commercialised, and with a rapidly expanding publicity and contacts base. Since 1999, it has helped to create 26 companies. Last year, one of the winners of the £50k competition (now the CUEBiC Competition) walked away with a £150,000 investment deal after a nerve-racking negotiation with a panel of respected business angels and seed funds live on stage.

The 3P Business Creation Competition focuses on creating socially and environmentally responsible sustainable enterprises, and has featured a variety of projects including improving the retention of tourism income in developing countries and new solutions for the identification of infectious diseases.

“We have lined up an exciting range of events for students: Business Creation Competitions, Enterprise Tuesday lecture series, Training Boot Camps, and the brand new £100 Pitch Challenge,”said Kaifeng Kang, President of CUE, “this will be a great year for budding entrepreneurs at Cambridge to learn and practice business creation skills.”

The competitions are open to all full-time students registered at the University of Cambridge for the current 2005/06 academic year.

The submission deadline for both competitions is 12th December 2005.

This year, CUE is sponsored by the Cambridge-MIT Institute (CMI), the Cambridge Science Park, ARM and HLBBshaw, and is supported by Cambridge Enterprise and the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning.
