Last week (19 July 2001) saw the publication of an independent review of the origin of BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) undertaken by a team of scientists led by Professor Gabriel Horn, Emeritus Professor of Zoology and former Master of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
Members of the Cambridge University Opera Society are among the cast of a new production due to open in the town this week.
The Cambridge Entrepreneurship Centre (CEC) is holding its annual Summer School this week. Budding entrepreneurs - some from within the University, some from local businesses - will be put through their paces in an intensive week-long course which will take them through all the main aspects of business start-up, from raising finance to team-building. At the end of the week the delegates will put their new skills to the test, when they present their business plans to a panel of expert judges.
A leading international research programme in finance will be launched today at the University of Cambridge, following a donation of $10 million from William H Janeway, Vice Chairman of the global private equity firm Warburg Pincus and his wife, Weslie Janeway, President of the Pyewacket Foundation.
