A free Taster Day for women thinking about returning to education, or making a career change, will be held at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge, on Thursday, 19 November.

Lucy Cavendish College is the Cambridge college exclusively for women over 21. Some 80 per cent of its undergraduates come from the UK with around a quarter of students coming from Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties.

You don’t have to be studying, or have A-levels, to attend the event. The day will include sample lectures, a tour of Lucy Cavendish College, and a talk on entrance requirements and how to apply. Participants will also have a chance to meet current students.

Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and range in age from early 20s upwards. Esther Silva (pictured), who comes from West Yorkshire, is combining studying for a degree in law with bringing up a young daughter.

Senior Tutor at Lucy Cavendish, Dr Stephanie Ellington said: “This is an amazing place and we want to make sure that every woman over 21 who is thinking of applying to do a degree knows that we are here.”
