Members of the University are invited to attend the tenth anniversary, of the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs (CUE) business creation competition.

To coincide with its tenth anniversary, CUE has invited a panel of successful alumni, stretching back from its origins through to one of the most recent winners.

The event will be held on Wednesday 14 October from 6-9pm in the Wolfson Lecture Theatre at the Department of Chemistry.

CUE encourages members of the University with an interest in entrepreneurship to come and learn from successful entrepreneurs and to find out about how to enter the upcoming business creation competition.

The event is free to all with refreshments, as well as the chance to meet potential team-mates for this year's competition.

Dr Tim Minshall, Senior Lecturer at Institute for Manufacturing, and current chairman of CUE’s Steerling Group said: “CUE has evolved to being a key part of the University’s ecosystem for supporting and accelerating entrepreneurship and innovation”.

Since 1999 CUE has successfully brought together people with ideas and helped connect brain waves with market needs.

Today CUE runs one of world’s most successful student-run business creation competitions in the world.

It has awarded over £0.5million in prize money to more than 40 start-ups and has seen many of them develop into successful global companies.

These companies have contributed significantly to the local region and beyond, producing over 110 full time jobs. A recent survey showed that, collectively, CUE alumni companies have gone on to secure over £33 million of investment.

CUE’s goal is to promote and nurture entrepreneurship in Cambridge and beyond. Its business creation competition along with the training, mentoring and networking events in support of it take competition entrants from idea to business in under a year.
