Nearly 400 school students from around the country will be arriving in Cambridge throughout July and August, for the University’s annual series of free summer schools.

The summer schools are a key part of the programme of events organised by the University and the Colleges to attract more applications from groups of students that are currently under-represented at Cambridge. Priority is therefore given to students whose parents did not go to university.

The University first started organising summer schools six years ago, in partnership with the Sutton Trust, and since then the concept has expanded every year. Bright students from maintained schools and colleges are invited to stay in one of the Cambridge Colleges for up to a week, and take part in an array of activities and events to enable them to experience life at the University.
