The Revd Martin Seeley has been appointed the next Principal of Westcott House, Cambridge, one of the Church of England’s leading theological colleges and part of the Cambridge Theological Federation.

He will take up the post in September, following the retirement of The Revd Canon Michael Roberts. Martin Seeley is currently Vicar of the Parish of Christ and St John with St Luke, a large East End parish in the Catholic tradition on the Isle of Dogs.

He brings a wealth of experience in residential and non-residential clergy training, both here and in the United States. He has served both as a Selection Secretary for the Advisory Board of Ministry and as Secretary for Continuing Ministerial Education.

Martin Seeley trained for the priesthood at Cuddesdon and Union Theological Seminary, New York. After serving his title in Scunthorpe he returned to New York to do a second curacy and this provided a base for what became a passion for theological education.

He combined being Curate of the Church of the Epiphany with being Assistant Director of the renowned Trinity Institute, Wall Street. This was followed by a five year stint as Executive Director of the Thompson Centre in St Louis, Missouri. Here he was responsible for an education centre which drew 1000 clergy and lay participants a year from up to sixteen denominations.

Martin Seeley is 51. He is married to Jutta, who trained for the priesthood at Westcott House and is Chaplain of the Guildhall School of Music. They have two children.
