Professor Mary Jacobus, Professor of English at the University of Cambridge, is to take up the post of Director of the Centre of Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) in January 2006.

Departing Director, Professor Ludmilla Jordanova, who moves to a Chair in Modern History at King’s College, London, hands over a vibrant programme of activities that support interdisciplinary research in Cambridge.
Professor Marilyn Strathern, the Chair of the Centre’s Management Committee, said, ‘We are delighted to welcome Professor Jacobus, whose energy and vision will take the Centre forward in the best possible way.’ Professor Mary Jacobus, who previously taught at Oxford and Cornell Universities, said, ‘I look forward to leading a flourishing Centre into a new and exciting phase of its existence.’
