In a visit to Cambridge a group of children from the charity Friends of Chernobyl's Children enjoyed a day of activities organised by the University and local businesses.

Activities on the day started with a morning chauffeured punt on the Cam provided free by Scudamores. The children then spent time in the University Centre making and eating their lunch - pizzas, salads and non-alcoholic cocktails.

The childrens’ afternoon was spent with local floral designer, Madeleine Bradley who is responsible for providing the flowers at major University events, who provided a master class for the children.

A photographer was on hand to document the day and take formal photos of each child who was wearing a commerative 800th Anniversary t-shirt donated by the University.

The day ended with a tour of the Zoology Museum and tea and cakes back at the University Centre.
Before the children left the University Photography and Illustration Service - PandIS - produced a large, mounted print for each child to take home as a present to their families.

The day was organised by Tom Walston, Head of Facilities, and one of the FOCC hosts: "It was great to see local businesses and the University working together to provide the children with such an enjoyable day. I am sure that the photographs will be appreciated by their families back home and remind the children of the time they had in Cambridge."

The FOCC charity brings children (aged 6-13) from orphanages or disadvantaged homes to stay with host families in the UK for a month each year. These children are in great need and come from social situations that make it difficult for them to get the medical and dental care they require at home.
