The University’s Disability Resource Centre will be receiving guests from Japan on Monday (10th November).

The visitors are lecturers at the Fukuoaka University of Education, Japan. They teach students the skills required for working in special schools, in particular schools for the blind, the deaf and for those with intellectual impairments.

They are interested in looking at the support that is currently available to disabled students at Cambridge University. Fukuoka University currently has no similar designated support. The guests hope to learn about the kinds of support that can be offered and its suitability for the different disabilities. They are particularly interested in provisions for students with dyslexia as this is becoming a big issue in Japan.

The Disability Resource Centre offers advice, information and support to staff and students at the university, in addition to running training courses.
