Professor David Cannadine, Honorary Fellow of Christ’s College, University of Cambridge and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Professor of British History at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London, is taking up residency on Radio 4.

He will deliver the A Point of View slot, the successor to Alistair Cooke’s long-running Letter From America, for 13 weeks.

In his first programme, broadcast on Friday October 28, Professor Cannadine reflected on the history and impact of his own generation, the baby boomers, and in particular on post-war developments in access to education. For the next three months, Professor Cannadine will give a historical perspective on contemporary events as they unfold.

His broadcasts can be heard on Radio 4 on Friday evenings at 8.50pm or Sunday morning at 8.45am or you can see the text of each week’s programme on the BBC website.
