Anuradha

Greenford student Anuradha Damale has been trying out life as a Cambridge undergraduate, as one of 300 participants in the 2012 Cambridge University Students' Union (CUSU) Shadowing Scheme.

Anuradha took part in the Shadowing Scheme to find out more about what it would be like to study Physics at a top university, and to experience Cambridge life first-hand.

She recorded this audio diary of her experiences.

“I love physics. It’s my passion. I saw the Rutherford Lab, the place where the whole physics and chemistry revolution began. It was so exciting – that was one of the things that got me into thinking, maybe I should apply here. Maybe it shouldn’t just be a distant dream.

“I’ve seen what the lectures are like. I like the environment. I did feel a bit daunted when I first walked in, but you get over it. The lectures are so interesting, the people are so nice - I have never felt more motivated in my entire life.”

The student-led shadowing scheme links an academically-talented 6th former with a current undergraduate, who tries to give them an insight into what it’s like to study at the University of Cambridge by taking them to lectures, supervisions, social events and other activities.
