Exclusive pantomime performance ‘Jack and the DNA stalk’ opens Chemistry ‘Olympics’ in Cambridge.
A specially written pantomime with a scientific twist entitled ‘Jack and the DNA Stalk’ will open the 41st Chemistry Olympiad at Cambridge Corn Exchange this Sunday 19th July.
For the first time in the prestigious contests 41 year history, students from 66 countries across the world are meeting in the UK and are being hosted by the University of Cambridge.
The ceremony will see actors and actresses from Sky Blue, a local theatre company, performing a pantomime which aims to immerse competitors in a taste of British Culture.
The Olympiad will test the best chemistry school students from Argentina to Vietnam. Competitors must be under 20 and have yet to start university education.
Students compete as individuals and form part of a national team usually of four, all vying for a medal to take home.
The closing ceremony at historic Kings College, Cambridge, will mark the end of the competition.
There are a limited number of free seats available for the pantomime and opening ceremony. Tickets will be given on a first come, first served basis and are available from Emma Powney, IChO Co-ordinator, Tel: 44(0)1223 336492
