The University of Cambridge is offering adult learners the chance to gain a unique insight into student life this summer by running another of its popular Going Further summer schools.

Going Further is designed specifically for learners over the age of 21 who are considering applying to university next year. Participants stay in student rooms at Cambridge, take part in undergraduate activities and receive a programme of lectures and study skills sessions from renowned academics.

The Summer School is just one of a number of initiatives the University of Cambridge has undertaken to reach out and open its doors to adult learners.

Other activities this year have included a Mature Students Open Day, regional events for Access to HE tutors and a programme of visits to Access to HE course groups across the country.

With four dedicated mature student colleges and a commitment to admitting the best students from all backgrounds, the University of Cambridge can be an attractive option for adult learners thinking about entering university after completing an Access to HE course or A-levels.

Sue Long, FE Colleges Liaison Officer for the University of Cambridge, who is herself a former mature student at Cambridge, said:

"We're really excited to be putting on this event. Cambridge is looking for the brightest and best students of all ages, so we're really keen to encourage more adult learners to apply. This event is completely free, so if you're over 21 and thinking about applying to university next year, it's well worth considering."

The Going Further Summer School will run from 9-11 July 2004. The University of Cambridge and the Sutton Trust meet all costs, including food, accommodation, activities, trips and participants' travel to and from the event.
