Alumni and academics will gather in New York tomorrow to celebrate this year’s Cambridge in America Day.

The day’s events will see talks and events themed around literature, criticism, media and the role of universities in today’s world.

Speakers include novelist and alumna of Corpus Christi Helen Oyeyemi, pictured, Lydia Wilson, Research Fellow in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and editor of the Cambridge Literary Review, and Stefan Collini, Professor of Intellectual History and English Literature at Cambridge, and one of the leading commentators on the nature of universities and their place in modern society.

Those attending will also be able to view an exhibition of images by Christ’s College artist in residence Issam Kourbaj. Taken using a camera obscura – and accompanied by prose and poetic responses from writers, staff and alumni of the college – ‘Intimate Distances’ captures the artist’s ongoing interest in the college, its landmarks and spaces.

The day is held at the Eventi Hotel, 6th Avenue, New York. For more information, click on the link at the top right of this page.
