On Wednesday, 20 April, at 7.30pm, the Friends of the Scott Polar Research Institute are hosting an evening with Peter Hillary, one of New Zealand’s best-known adventurers and speakers.

The evening’s talk, taking place at the Scott Polar Research Institute, will be a collection of memories from a member of one of the world's most famous families of high adventure. Peter Hillary has climbed Everest twice, survived K2, skied a new route to the South Pole and even touched down at the geographic North Pole with his father, Ed Hillary, and Neil Armstrong! In between his expeditions he raises funds for education and health services in the Himalayas.

His latest book 'In the Ghost Country', a haunting biographical story set against the vast blank of the Polar Plateau during his ski trip to the South Pole, will be available for purchase.

The talk will be followed by a reception. Tickets are £25 each and include the reception. The evening’s proceeds will be donated to the William Mills Library Acquisitions Fund, an endowment fund in memory of the late librarian of the Institute, and will be used to purchase books, maps and periodicals for the Institute’s famous polar library.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from: The Friends Secretary, Scott Polar Research Institute, Lensfield Road, Cambridge, CB2 1ER or friends@spri.cam.ac.uk. Tickets are available on a first come first served basis.
