Access keys and skiplink are available on sections of our website built using our web templates since 2008.

Access keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key (in Internet Explorer you need to then press Enter); on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. The access keys used are as follows:

  • Access key 1 - Home page.
  • Access key 2 - Skip to content.
  • Access key 4 - Search page.
  • Access key 0 - Help (this page).

Skiplink

There is a link at the top of our old templates which is hidden from graphical browsers, but which will be spoken or available via assistive technologies such as JAWS or VoiceOver. It links directly to the start of the page content, after the navigation, so that users have direct access.
