Cambridge is a global centre of excellence that contributes nearly £30bn to the UK economy every year. It is widely recognised as one of the world's leading innovation ecosystems.

We share the Government’s ambition to increase capacity for research and development. We also know that well planned, strategic investments need to be co-created with the local community and must carefully consider a range of factors including environmental sustainability, affordable housing, infrastructure, and planning. It will be vital to consult a broad range of stakeholders including the current residents of Cambridge and its surrounding areas.

We look forward to seeing further details of the Government's plans and working closely with the Cambridge community to ensure these plans deliver a powerhouse of science and technology and an inclusive place to live and work.
