Her visit came less than week after the Vice Chancellor made the need to increase the representation of women at the highest levels of the University a major theme of his 1st October address in Senate House.

Dr Sturnick explains about her work to Pro Vice-Chancellor, Anne Lonsdale, and the organisers of her visit to Cambridge, Dr Felicity Hunt and Jenny Woodhouse.

ACE is roughly equivalent to the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals (CVCP) of the Universities of the UK and has, for a number of years, run an Office of Women that takes a high profile lead on this issue. Dr Sturnick talked about the setting up of ACE and how it is promoting gender equality. During her stay in Britain she is also meeting with representatives from CVCP and other universities.
