Members of the Cambridge University Opera Society are among the cast of a new production due to open in the town this week.

The ADC Theatre will be hosting a production of Gluck's "Orpheus and Euridice" in conjunction with CamFest 2001 - Cambridge's Summer Arts Festival.

Gemma Rougier is the producer and wants to encourage everyone to go along.

"The singing is exceptional and the power of the music should not be underestimated," she said. "The company is proud to present David Clegg, a professional counter-tenor from London, as Orpheus and Oliver Rundell, a recent graduate of Corpus Christi who is about to take up a prestigious place at London's National Opera Studio. Martin Frost, a professional production designer will be designing the set and costumes for the production before leaving the country to work in the Bahamas as a designer for Walt Disney."

"Orpheus and Euridice" is Gluck's best known opera and follows the story of legendary musician Orpheus and his journey to the Underworld to bring back his beloved Euridice.

This operatic delight will be staged at the ADC Theatre tomorrow (Tuesday 17 July 2001), 19, 24, 26 and 28 July at 7.45pm and on the 22 July at 2.30pm.
