Christ’s College is a warm family with lots of friendly students. The College cares a lot about the welfare of the students in all aspects including academic performance, financial problems and accommodation. Frank

Christ’s, founded in 1505, has a distinguished tradition of scholarship and academic excellence. This is the College of John Milton and Charles Darwin, so if you come to Christ’s you will be able to see Milton’s mulberry tree in the gardens and visit Darwin’s old College room. The College is small enough to be friendly and personal, yet large enough for everyone to be able to find friends with similar interests. Our students come from all over the world and from all types of schools and social backgrounds. There is no typical Christ’s student: everyone can feel at home here.

The College is right in the centre of Cambridge, but when you come through the gate from the busy street the noise of the city disappears and it is, as one of our students said, ‘like stepping through the back of the wardrobe into Narnia’. Our courts and gardens are spacious, calm and beautiful. We can offer comfortable accommodation either in or right beside the College to all undergraduates, for their entire course. All student rooms have phone and internet connections, and 40 per cent are en suite. We have three rooms equipped for students with disabilities. Facilities for both academic study and extra-curricular activities are excellent: the library is open 24 hours a day and has wi-fi; there is a newly refurbished theatre, a visual arts centre, fitness suite, squash court and much more. The boathouse and sports grounds are nearby, and music in College is also very strong.

At Christ’s we aim to provide the very best teaching and pastoral support that we can, but the rest is up to you. Our students have an outstanding record of academic achievement. Nearly all applicants are invited for interview, and while we particularly encourage applications from schools with little or no tradition of applying to Cambridge, admissions decisions and offers are based purely on academic merit and potential. If your application is rated very highly after interview you may even receive an ‘easy offer’ that takes your academic potential and individual circumstances into account. About one third of our offers each year are easy offers.

Why not visit our website and read the subject specific information there? And don’t forget to look at our students’ own website www.thejcr.co.uk.
