ENCOUNTERS

An exhibition of discovery and exploration of research through collaborative artistic creations

Cambridge Creative Encounters is a unique combination of art and design creations that showcases some of the world’s most burning questions in novel and creative ways.

We challenged our researchers to work with creative professionals to rethink the ways they communicate their research, by means of artistic practice, graphic design, illustration, poetry, animation, augmented reality and more.

We held a retrospective exhibition at All Saints Church, Cambridge, to celebrate the projects and the learning we developed over the years. As part of that, we presented a poetry anthology.

"[CCE changed] my understanding of how significant and useful public engagement can be in an exercise in clarifying your own thinking and research aims"

ABOUT CREATIVE ENCOUNTERS

Cambridge Creative Encounters is a unique project that facilitate producing art and design creations that showcase some of the world’s most burning questions in novel and creative ways.

We challenged our researchers to work with creative professionals to rethink the ways they communicate their research, by means of artistic practice, graphic design, illustration, poetry, performance, photography, animation and moving image.

University of Cambridge researchers have worked with professionals and students from the creative arts to bring their research outside of the world of academia through a diverse range of artistic media from augmented reality, sculpture, photography, illustration, poetry, to animation and short films.
