Partnering with the community
Together and separately, AstraZeneca and the University are both deeply committed to partnering with the local community through a wide range of activities.
Playing our part in the community
Both the University and AstraZeneca are deeply engaged in the Cambridge community – from championing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education to inspire the next generation, to volunteering and collaborating with local charities, to partnering with community organisations, events and initiatives.
Working together on the Cambridge Festival
The Cambridge Festival is a great example of where we come together. An interdisciplinary mix of online, on-demand and in-person events, it covers all aspects of the world-leading research happening at Cambridge University.
Distinct platforms for the sciences and the arts, humanities and social sciences offer an eclectic mixture of events and activities from panel discussions, film premieres, and self-guided walking tours, to interactive activities for the whole family.
Topics cover the breadth of Cambridge research and are presented across the Festival’s main themes: Society, Health, Environment and Discovery.
AstraZeneca is both a major sponsor and participant in a wide range of events. During the annual Festival it hosts activities for young people, opens the doors of the DISC to festival-goers and contributes to events on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
"As part of our UK STEM outreach and public engagement programme in 2025, we were delighted to host a series of hands-on ‘Medicine Maker’ STEM activities for young people designed to ignite curiosity and inspire the next generation of innovators.”
Lisa King, Director of UK STEM & Community Engagement at AstraZeneca
in-person engagements each year
"This year’s Festival felt like the city itself came alive with ideas—unexpected, thought-provoking, sometimes surreal, and always buzzing. We’ve never seen this level of curiosity and connection.”
David Cain, Cambridge Festival Manager
