It's a gas!
Fun in the chemistry lab - with the help of the audience, this popular explosive lecture by Dr Peter Wothers will show the reactions and properties of different gases in the atmosphere. Warning: loud bangs!

Explosive volcanic eruptions
Volcanic eruptions can cause havoc to local populations, and have a global impact on the economy and climate. Professor Herbert Huppert, from the Institute of Theoretical Geophysics, will describe the exciting new theories about the behaviour of volcanoes and magma. One for the lava-lovers.
