A new scheme devised to help cash-strapped student parents at the University of Cambridge was launched earlier this month at Lucy Cavendish College.

It implements a cashless barter-like system, where members exchange tokens for babysitting or other forms of childcare or indeed other services. These can include car lifts (for shopping, moving accommodation, or trips to the station and airport) and proof-reading for students whose first language is not English.
