Chimes will ring over the streets of Cambridge Sunday morning, as Easter services take place at King's College Chapel and Great St. Mary's.

At Great St Mary's, the day will begin with a Vigil, New Fire and First Mass of Easter at 5:30am. This traditional Easter service will begin with a pre-dawn lighting of a fire outside the church.

At 8 a.m. a service of Holy Communion will be celebrated. All five of Great St Mary's choirs will sing at a 9:30am Sung Parish Communion. The featured anthem will be Lord of the Dance, arranged by Willcocks. The Parish Choir and Boys Choir will sing for the 11:15 am Choral Mattins service and the Girls Chamber Chorus will sing for the 6:30pm Choral Evensong.

At King's College, the day's services begin at 10:30am with a sung Eucharist with Procession. The King's College Choir will sing Schubert's Mass in G with string accompaniment. A Festal Evensong will be held at 3:55pm with the choir singing Joubert's Magnificat and Nunc dimittis, Wesley's Blessed be the God and Father, and Edgar's Te Deum. This service will be relayed live by BBC Radio 3.

The day's observances will culminate with a 5:30pm organ recital by David Goode, one time organ scholar of King's. Goode has designed a programme to display the magnificence of the King's Harrison organ, presenting music from a variety of eras. The concert will include: Liszt's Variations on Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen; Buxtehude's Chorale Prelude Jesus Christus, unser Heiland; Tunder's Partita Jesus Christus, unser Heiland; Williamson's Vision of Christ-Phoenix [1961]; Widor's Choral from Symphonie romane; and Tournemire's Choral-Improvisation Victimae Paschali. Tickets for all seats are £10, unreserved.

A taped broadcast of Goode's concert will air on BBC Radio 3 at 4pm Monday April 9. BBC BBC Radio 3 music programmes are available to listen to again for up to seven days after broadcast on www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/.
