Today the second in a series of articles by Judith Judd appears in The Independent, exploring the realities of the admissions process at Cambridge.

A candidate prepares for the interview ahead.

The articles follow through the admissions process by observing the experience of students applying to Clare College. Clare College granted Judith Judd unique access to their admissions procedures, including allowing her to observe interviews of applicants and discussions among the interviewers afterwards. The confidentiality of the applicants was protected throughout, but the aim was to dispell some of the common myths and to give a real insight into the admissions process.

The final article will appear on 27 January.
