A message to students and staff about revised government guidance following the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Dear students and colleagues,

With the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, the Government is revising public health guidance. To protect each other we must immediately extend the use of face coverings. Face coverings help protect the wearer and others against the spread of infection because they cover the nose and mouth, which are the main confirmed sources of COVID-19 transmission. We expect face coverings to be worn by students, staff and all visitors to the University in all indoor shared spaces (including labs, libraries, classrooms and shared offices) and when moving through corridors and across communal rooms. They are not required when outdoors nor if a person is exempt from wearing a face covering.

Thank you for helping to reduce the risk of further disruption and illness. Please follow specific guidance from your college for accommodation and college spaces.

Best wishes,
