We offer a range of templates and resources to help you create engaging video content that adheres to the Cambridge brand. These include pre-designed outro clips and on-screen graphics, B-roll footage and access to photo and music libraries.
Branded on-screen graphics templates
- Available as flat (.png), motion (.mogrt) or Canva templates.
- Canva users can request links to 9:16 name or title templates.
Text-safe area guides
Keep all text inside the safe areas so it's easy to read on mobile and social media.
The positioning of titles and subtitles will depend on the video format. Check the visual identity guidelines for examples of good positioning.
Outro clips
Download pre-designed animated outros in different aspect ratios from SharePoint.
Photography
Staff can access hundreds of high-quality, copyright-free images for University use through the photo library.
B-roll footage
B-roll adds depth to your video and helps bring stories to life. You can use it to:
- show people, places and facilities
- set the tone or add visual interest
- cover edits or transitions
The Social Media, Video and Photography team holds a library of B-roll for University use. It is cleared for educational, non-commercial purposes. Email the team at socialmedia@communications.cam.ac.uk to request access.
You must follow copyright law. Do not use footage you do not own or have permission to use.
Music and sound effects
Music and sound can set the tone and support your message. Keep it subtle and low in the mix.
You must have the right to use any track in your video. If not, your video may be taken down. Always check the terms and conditions - even for “rights-free” tracks - as:
- some licences limit how much of a track you can use
- others restrict use by platform, time or purpose
You can also use ambient sound, such as birdsong or crowd noise. The BBC offers free sound effects for non-commercial use.
