How the University works
The University Advocate
The University Advocate is an independent officer appointed by the Regent House on the nomination of the Council. The Advocate has responsibility for and conducts prosecutions before the University Courts for breaches of discipline (including using unfair means in examination and plagiarism) by members of the University.
The Advocate, however, may only prosecute if a complaint is made to him or her by a member of the Regent House. The current University Advocate is Dr Rosy Thornton of Emmanuel College (rt104@cam.ac.uk).
