Student Health, Support & Welfare
There is a diversity of sources of support available to you in Cambridge. While you can always contact your Tutor, Senior Tutor, Chaplain or College Nurse, the links and information below are also useful. If you would like further information, or are unsure of the best source of support feel free to contact the CUSU Welfare & Graduates Officer at welfare@cusu.cam.ac.uk.
Health
- Cambridge Student Health - comprehensive advice on health and local services in Cambridge, for all students both at University and Sixth Form College
- Cambridge Local Area Health web pages - includes information on hospitals, family planning, NHS Direct
- CAMDOC - for out-of-hours emergency care. Phone 01223 464242
- University Dental Service - provides NHS and private dental treatment for students
- Blood donation for students and staff - also termly marrow donor testing clinic
- University Health Guidelines, for vaccination, anaphlyaxis, avian and pandemic flu, and meningitis.
- Health Advice for travellers from the Department of Health, including how to apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
Support
- Accommodation Service - exists to help all current members of the University, from students and academics to staff and visiting scholars, to find suitable accommodation.
- Careers Service - provide careers education, information and guidance to students and alumni
- Childcare Office
- Holiday Playscheme - rising five to 14 years can be cared for in the state school holiday periods (excluding Christmas and Bank Holidays)
- Nursery provision - one of the University's workplace nurseries (open daily from 8.00am to 6.00pm for children aged 3 months to 5 years) has places for students (N.B. long waiting lists)
- Student Parent Guide - information on University and College provision for student parents, advice on finance, accommodation, health care and children's activities
- Counselling Service
- Dignity at work - policy statement and procedures
- Disability Resource Centre - advice and information to prospective and current students
- Equality in the University - statement of the University's Equal Opportunities policy, plus events and training
- Environmental office - guidance documents
- Linkline - a confidential listening and information service
- Training & Personal Development
- University Skills Portal - for undergraduate students
- Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning: Enterprise Tuesday - evening programme of talks from Entrepreneurs followed by networking
- Computing Service Training - instructor-led IT courses (free to current students)
- Volunteering - recruitment guidelines, plus details of volunteering opportunities
Welfare
- Cambridge Local Area Counselling and Advice web pages - includes information on numerous agencies, both local and national, which provide support and assistance for a variety of problems
- Welfare information from CUSU, including how to get help and advice in a range of circumstances
- CUSU International Forum - autonomous part of CUSU whose objective is to represent and look after the welfare of international students
