Welcome to University Amnesty International

Welcome to the University Voices for issues concerning Amnesty International around the world.

We aim to inform, educate and broadcast as much News surrounding humanitarian issues that affect the world.

Amnesty International is a movement of ordinary people standing up for humanity and human rights across the world. Our purpose is to promote human rights wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied.

AI is a democratic, self-governing movement. Major policy decisions are taken by an International Council made up of representatives from all national sections.

One of the latest videos for the Refugee Crisis from the BBC has been added below for our readers to view.

AI’s national sections and local volunteer groups are primarily responsible for funding the movement. No funds are sought or accepted from governments for AI’s work investigating and campaigning against human rights violations.

The main agenda for 2024 for our staff members, is to highlight the need for help, support and love that is needed for our fellow humans, the Refugees of the world.

We oppose: The return of refugees to countries where they may be at risk of serious violations and abuses. Arms and security transfers (including weapons and training) to countries where these can reasonably be assumed to contribute to human rights abuses. The manufacture, use or transfer of indiscriminate weapons of warfare, particularly anti-personnel landmines.

Our team are working with several Microsoft developers from MSDN with Britannia to MSDN with RWinvest and many other useful developers.

Who we are and what we represent

University Amnesty International refers to university-level chapters or student groups affiliated with the larger organization known as Amnesty International. Amnesty International is a global human rights organization that works to promote and protect human rights around the world. It focuses on issues such as freedom of speech, freedom from torture, the right to a fair trial, and the abolition of the death penalty, among other concerns.

University Amnesty International groups are typically made up of students and faculty members who are passionate about human rights issues. These groups work on various campaigns, raise awareness about human rights abuses, and engage in advocacy and activism on their campuses and in their communities. They often organize events, protests, educational workshops, and fundraising efforts to support the work of Amnesty International and to raise awareness about specific human rights violations and injustices.

These university-level chapters are an important part of Amnesty International’s grassroots network and contribute to the organization’s broader mission of defending and promoting human rights worldwide. They provide an avenue for students and academics to get involved in human rights activism and make a positive impact on the world.

We are proud to be one of these network groups promoting human rights around the world.
