The Public Engagement team behind the Cambridge Science Festival also run other free public events throughout the year.

Festival of Ideas

The new Festival of arts, humanities and social sciences took place from 19 October to 30 October 2011. This year’s Festival provided chances for visitors of all ages to learn more about the Cambridge ideas that shaped the world, looking to the past, present and on to the future. Talks ranged from the Earth’s ability to cope with the rapidly rising population, the evolving nature of political speechwriting to the ethical arguments for and against torture. The next Festival of Ideas will take place from the 24 October to the 4 November 2012.

Bridge the Gap Charity Walk

Walk through Cambridge Colleges for charity. The 4.5 mile Bridge the Gap Charity walk took place on 11 September 2011 to raise money for Arthur Rank Hospice and Press Relief. It included activities on route and a chance to learn more about the history of Cambridge and its Colleges.It was once again one of the most popular charity walks in the region. Next years event will take place on September 9 2012. Registration for the event will open in summer 2012.

Open Cambridge

Open Cambridge provides a unique opportunity for visitors to explore collegiate Cambridge through subject themed tours, guided by University and College experts. Open Cambridge 2012 will take place from 7 to 9 of September. Open Cambridge features tours of Colleges, libraries and departments as well as talks which explore 800 years of history.
