The NIHR/Wellcome Trust Clinical Investigation Ward at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are hosting a stand at the Cambridge Corn Exchange to promote clinical research in healthy volunteers. We will have hands on examples of some of the measurements we perform in some of our studies, for example, fitness tests to measure heart rate while exercising, a device to estimate body fat and fat free mass, and more information of how to get involved in clinical research as a healthy volunteer. Our studies measure energy expenditure, body fat, muscle mass, blood parameters, fitness and much more. We will be at the Corn Exchange to demonstrate some of these measurements from 11am to 5pm and to answer any questions you have about clinical research as a healthy volunteer. Whether you are 6 years old, or 60 years old, your participation in clinical research will help us understand more about normal “healthy” body composition and energy expenditure which helps us understand common and rare disease and disorders in patients.
