Children and their families can expect a fairytale experience when they visit the Cambridge University Botanic Garden this summer.

Children and their families can expect a fairytale experience when they visit the Cambridge University Botanic Garden this summer.

On specific storytelling days in August they can encounter the Botanic Garden through myth and fairytale by visiting different story spots scattered across the landscape.

As they visit the story spots, children can listen to the legends and collect them into their own storybook, adding in their own creations such as recipes inspired by the Little Red Hen and designs for new forms of transport inspired by Cinderella's Pumpkin Coach.

There will also be the opportunity to decorate and customise storybooks further in the Gilmour Hall where lots of different craft activities will be on offer.

The storytelling days will take place on 3, 9, 16, 23, 30 August between 10am - 3pm and there is no need to book a place. Between 10am - 12 noon, stories are aimed at 4-7 year olds, and between 1-3pm, at 8-12 year olds.

On the storytelling days there will be a £2 charge per child for the purchase of their storybook in addition to normal Garden admission.

The Botanic Garden holds the plant collections of the University of Cambridge and is open everyday over the summer from 10am - 6pm.

Admission is £3 adult, £2.50 concession and children 0-16 inclusive are free, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
