Cambridge University graduate Simon Ambrose was chosen as the winner of Alan Sugar's BBC TV show The Apprentice last night.

"To get to the final was a dream come true. Winning is the cherry on the cake. I'm over the moon. I can't believe it. I'm still struggling to take it in. I feel like I've come a long way to cross the finish line. I'm ecstatic, really."

Cambridge University graduate Simon Ambrose was chosen as the winner of Alan Sugar's BBC TV showThe Apprenticelast night.

Simon, who has an MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge, surprised viewers by beating confident Kristina Grimes, 36, after the two went head-to-head to design an eye-catching landmark on London's South Bank.

He will now leave his online lighting business and lettings agency to take up a £100,000 per year role working for Sir Alan.

Simon graduated in 2000 from Magdalene College Cambridge, where he was also a keen member of the Cambridge Footlights.

The talented 27-year-old speaks six languages, enjoys yachting, kite boarding and Karate and proved to be an accomplished rapper and break-dancer during his twelve-week stint on the show.

He first programmed one of Sir Alan Sugar's Amstrad computers at the age of six after being given it as a present by his father.

Dr Nigel Knight, Director of Studies in Economics at Magdalene College said: "I am very happy for Simon, it is a remarkable achievement. I remember him well as an undergraduate at Magdalene and his confident style made him a good candidate - no doubt he will work well with Sir Alan Sugar."
