The 25-seater had been booked as part of the launch of the University's Park and Cycle scheme in April, but it was damaged on its journey to Cambridge. The Coton Primary School children who had been invited to the event for a ride on the monster cycle were understandably disappointed, but today the University rewarded their patience with a surprise appearance from the bike which has now been repaired.

Today is also National Bike to Work Day, and the University is keen to encourage cycling as a greener way to get around, especially with Cambridge traffic as it is!

The Park and Cycle Scheme on Clerk Maxwell Road provides staff with the facility to store their bikes and park their cars so that they can cycle the last mile to work. The scheme is available to all city-centre based University of Cambridge staff.

This is the first-phase of a two-phase design. At the moment there are 150 lockers available with 292 car parking spaces. If demand for the lockers is sufficient then another 300 lockers will be installed.
