Roger Mosey

The Fellows of Selwyn College are pleased to announce that Roger Mosey MA (Oxon), HonDLitt (Lincoln), HonDUniv (Bradford) has been elected to succeed Professor Richard Bowring as Master of the College.

He brings to the role a steadfast commitment to higher education and a wealth of experience as one of the country’s most eminent broadcasting executives.

He will take up the role on 1 October 2013.

Roger Mosey is currently Editorial Director of the BBC. 

He has spent almost his entire career to date at the Corporation, having been successively an editor of the Today programme, Controller of Radio 5 Live, Head of Television News, Director of BBC Sport, Director of London 2012 (in charge of the planning across all BBC services for the Olympics), and Director of Television.  

He was for five years a Trustee of the National Media Museum, is currently a Trustee of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and has recently been appointed Chairman of the Council of Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln.

The election process was led by the Vice-Master of Selwyn College, Dr Michael Tilby, who commented: “The College is delighted that Roger Mosey has consented to be our next Master. He brings to the role a steadfast commitment to higher education and a wealth of experience as one of the country’s most eminent broadcasting executives.  We look forward to entering a new phase in our history under his leadership.” 

Roger Mosey said “I feel deeply honoured to have been elected Master of Selwyn College. This is an incredibly strong college academically in one of the great universities of the world, and I want to make sure we maintain its best traditions as well as sharing its values with new generations.  In my visits to Selwyn so far, I’ve found it a particularly friendly and welcoming community, and I’m thrilled to become part of that.”
