A public exhibition was held on Wednesday 12 January to mark the start of the masterplanning process for land to the north-west of Cambridge city centre which has been earmarked for future university-led development.

The land between Madingley Road and Huntingdon Road has been identified in Cambridge City Council’s Draft Redeposit Local Plan as an area that can meet the long term needs of the University and City.

The University of Cambridge is working with leading planning consultants EDAW to engage with the local community in a masterplanning exercise to consider possible uses of the site for the future, and the subsequent issues this raises.

The exhibition and open evening was in the New Auditorium at Fitzwilliam College, off Storey’s Way, from 6 to 8.30pm. Visitors were able to view initial proposals and ideas for the site and share their views with the consultants and University officers.

A second public exhibition and open evening, to look at a masterplan for the site in more detail, will be held between 6 and 8.30pm on Thursday 27 January in the Long Room at New Hall, with a third public event on Wednesday 2 March.
