As part of a visit to the region, HRH The Duke of York visited Judge Business School on 14 September.

He enjoyed an informal lunch with staff and students to hear about recent developments at the School, including the latest teaching and research initiatives, with particular emphasis on international trade, in his capacity as Special Representative for Investment & Trade UK.

HRH met members from the Centre for Competitiveness and Innovation, based at the School and co-directed by Professor Nick Oliver, and a variety of faculty, staff and students, including Dr Mark de Rond who has just won the prestigious Academy of Management’s George R Terry Book Award for his book ‘Strategic Alliances as Social Facts: Business, Biotechnology and Intellectual History’, the first European winner since 1999.

Many members of the School gathered in the open Common Room where Professor Dame Sandra Dawson invited HRH to unveil a banner that marked the School’s change of name from Judge Institute of Management to Judge Business School.

The change of name signals a new era for the School, which was founded in 1990, and is the first step in the launch of the strategic business plan which aims to position the School firmly in the Top 10 business schools in the world over the next 10 years.
