This Thursday 13 July, the Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, will confer honorary degrees at a traditional ceremony held at the University's Senate-House.

The Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, and other members of the traditional honorary degrees procession around the yard of the Senate-House.

An honorary degree is the highest honour that the University can bestow, and recognises outstanding personal achievement.

The University's Council choose their annual nominations for honorary doctorates from a large number of proposals put forward by members of the University; the formal decision to confer the degrees is then taken by the "Regent House" (the whole body of University and College academic and administrative staff).
