This week is Student Volunteer Week. Hundreds of student volunteers from the University of Cambridge are involved in projects throughout the local community, some of which are outlined below.
Around 600 students are registered with Student Community Action (SCA), which organises a whole range of activities in the local area.
Rosemary Cowsley, co-ordinator of SCA, estimates that students are involved in over 50 voluntary organisations across Cambridge and explains why she believes students are so willing to volunteer:
