Entrepreneurs of the future can hone their personal and professional skills at one of the world’s leading business schools at a course next month.

The Enterprisers Programme, run by the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL), based at Judge Business School, is an action-orientated, practical course aimed based on experiential learning, or ‘learning by doing’.

The course aims to build self-confidence, unlock creativity and create meaningful relationships among future leaders. It helps debunk perceptions about barriers to venturing and empower individuals to be entrepreneurial in their own environment.

Skills valuable in a range of ventures, including both start-up and established businesses, large corporations and universities, and other organisations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors are taught on the course.

Dr Jessica Morrod, Postgraduate Skills Training Officer at the School of Physical Sciences, said: “The Enterprisers programme presents an exciting opportunity for the development of knowledge transfer and skills of postgraduate researchers.

“Students from across the University and beyond will be able to spend quality time focusing on expanding their creative and entrepreneurial thinking whilst developing key skills supported by trained facilitators.”

Dr Shailendra Vyakarnam, Director of CfEL, said: “Enterprisers will be particularly useful to postgraduates looking to gain advantage with their research or learn new skills in running an enterprising project.”

The programme was established in 2002 by the Cambridge-MIT Institute and is currently managed and delivered by CfEL. This programme is being funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

CfEL aims to spread the spirit of enterprise to both the University and to wider national and international audiences. It collaborates with more than 200 experienced entrepreneurs and innovators and develops 40 courses, events and programmes each year.

The Enterprisers Programme is free to attend and open to all postgraduate students at the University. It will run from 1-4 May at Judge Business School. To apply for a place, visit the CfEL website (see sidebar). The closing date for applications is 14th April.
