Professor Bernard Fingleton, Director of Research in the Department of Land Economy, was awarded the EIB-ERSA Prize in Regional Science at the 56th European Regional Science Association (ERSA) Congress in Vienna, Austria.
The award, which includes a 10,000 Euro prize, is presented yearly to recognise the outstanding contributions of scholars to the field of regional science.
The award commended Prof Fingleton’s achievements, including applied spatial econometrics, addressing urban and regional as well as national global problems. The Jury particularly acknowledged Prof Fingleton’s contributions to theoretical and empirical spatial economics, as well as his work as editor-in-chief of the journal “Spatial Economic Analysis” and as an advisor to various international organisations, including the European Commission and the World Bank.
