Schools
The Festival of Ideas offers dozens of events which are suitable for young people as well as an exclusive day of masterclasses for schools called ‘Inspiring Ideas’.
Inspiring Ideas
Free schools’ event – Friday 14 October 2011
Inspiring Ideas is an exciting opportunity for Year 9 students to attend talks in the arts, humanities and social sciences at the University of Cambridge and to experience a diverse programme led by some of the University’s leading academics.
The day is designed to give students a taste of unusual subjects such as; Archaeology and Anthropology, Classics, Law, Modern and Medieval Languages and Politics to name a few. Our aim is to inspire Year 9 students and to encourage them to think about subjects which they may not have considered studying. If these subjects are familiar to your students we hope that Inspiring Ideas will help them to think beyond the curriculum.
The schools and pupils are recruited by the Schools Liaison Officer for Pembroke and St. Catharine’s Colleges. The Festival team put together a programme of interactive lectures and hands on activities for the students, as well as a tour of the Colleges. Undergraduate students act as tour guides during the day with the assistance of College Schools Liaison Officers and Festival of Ideas staff.
Please email the team if you are a lecturer from the University who would like more information about Inspiring Ideas or if you are a school who would like to participate.
